The coral reef is dying. Pollution, dynamite fishing, deep sea trawling, and plain neglect have contributed to a swiftly disappearing foundation of the underwater ecosystem. Coral provides an essential habitat to promote biodiversity in the oceans. Is there any way to save it? Find out this Wednesday, March 4 at 5:30 pm in room 229 at the UAS Sitka Campus.
Artist, TED Senior Fellow, and socio-ecological activist Colleen Flanigan will give a program titled Merging Art with Environmental Science on her work on coral reefs and environmental art. Ms. Flanigan acts as spokesperson for the seas and with her Living Sea Sculptures, she is able to regenerate coral at an accelerated rate.
Ms. Flanigan’s visit is sponsored by the UAS campuses program One Campus One Book. If you have any questions, please contact Kitty LaBounty at 747-9432.

Let’s pause for a moment to reflect on how she has enriched our lives today.
