UAS Nurses Pinning Ceremony Friday, December 12

pinningCeremonyA Pinning Ceremony will be held Friday, December 12 at 6 pm in room 229 of the Sitka Campus. The UAS Sitka Campus cohort of the University of Alaska School of Nursing Program will recognize the nine associate nursing graduates of its 2014 class.

According to Dr. Lori Hart,  Sitka Outreach Coordinator, “The traditional pinning ceremony is a symbolic welcoming of the new nurse into the profession. We celebrate the hard work of these outstanding students, who have completed a rigorous two-year program. Most of their classroom work and clinical rotations occurred here in Sitka. We appreciate the clinical partners in the Sitka community who have helped prepare these nurses. Some of our Sitka cohort graduates will stay here, while others will move on to be nurses across Alaska or in the lower 48 states. Each of these new nurses will make a positive impact on the future of health care; they are a caring, knowledgeable group who reflect well on UAA and the Sitka campus of UAS.”

All are invited to recognize the significant achievement of the graduating nurses. Admission is free and refreshments will be served after the ceremony.
